Samuel Ray Dotson, age 69 of Carlisle, Kentucky, passed away on January 27th, 2026, at Pikeville Medical Center. Samuel was born on July 22nd, 1956, the beloved son of the late Elec & Tennessee (Dotson) Stiltner.
In addition to his biological parents, he was also preceded by his adopted parents, Bud & Margie Dotson, and two brothers, Bob and Tom Dotson.
Samuel was a former mining mechanic for Joy. He was an avid pool player, and his opponents knew him by “Gray Ghost.” Samuel enjoyed the outdoors. He loved a nice ride on his motorcycle on a warm day, camping and going coon hunting. Samuel liked to make people laugh. He always had a funny joke or was cutting up. His humorous personality will be missed by all who treasured him.
Those surviving Samuel include his wife, Christina Dotson of Carlisle, KY; two sons, Steven Wiley of Elizabethtown, KY, and George Norman of Carlise, KY; two daughters, Chastity McClelland of Wallingford, KY, and Sammi Renee Dotson of Virginia Beach, VA; brothers, Terry (Tammy) Dotson of Phelps, KY, Jeffery (Johanna) Ball of Phelps, KY, Jerry (Lisa) Dotson of Phelps, KY, and Earl Mounts; two sisters, Margie (Marcus) Smith, and Tina Dotson both of Phelps, KY; grandchildren, Melissa Lynn Wiley, Andrea Wiley, Austin Taylor, Madison Callahan, Alexandria Walton, Bobby McClelland, Damien McClelland, Noah McClelland, Adley Norman, and Layton Norman.
Samuel also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 2nd, 2026, from 6-9 P.M. at the Jones & West Funeral Home located at 37035 State Highway 194 East. Special services will be held at 7:00 P.M.
Funeral services will begin at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, February 3rd, 2026 in the chapel with James Elvis Blankenship officiating.
Burial will follow at the Dotson Cemetery in Phelps, Kentucky.
